hello casey

what’s up?

Sometimes the “about” page just isn’t enough.

The team has been growing, roles are changing and I think it is about time we catch up.

I’m loud.

I have a sailor’s mouth.

I have an etsy cart full of romantasy stickers as a reward for when I finish my online french class.

My gushing about how hot you are in your session is NOT fake. I really do get so excited when people are properly recorded digitally for all time.

So let’s catch up. Have your Diet Coke? Great.

Where are you from?

I’m a home grown Atlanta girlie. I grew up in good ol’ Henry County! Eagle’s Landing High School alumni. You know when you are listening to the radio and the traffic report says there is a huge accident at Eagle’s Landing Hudson Bridge Rd? Yeah, that was my exit.

What was baby Casey like?

A picture says a thousand words so I will include one to give you an idea. Bonus photo of my bestie Mandi.

I live my life trying to make Baby Casey proud to be honest. I was a people pleaser, line leader, “a pleasure to have in class” kind of girl who also listened to Motion City Soundtrack and Paramore. I contain(ed) multitudes. Performing (flute, vocals, marching band, recitals, plays) was a huge part of my life and Broadway dreams were a real thing.

How did you become a photographer?

Totally by accident actually. My first paid photoshoot was in 2013. I was an actor first and foremost but I liked the flexibility of taking pictures for money. The more photos I took, the better I got, the more money people were willing to pay me for photos. I used photography to pay for my acting habit for sure.

Then I started treating it like a full time job in 2020 when I finally realized that photography was making me more money than acting as well as making me super happy. I had found my niche!

I talk way more about this in my Business of Photography class for ASoP so if you want to come hang please do. I made lots of mistakes but I did a couple important things right. I’m still learning new photography skills and business tactics every day.

So I am a photographer but, like most people, I have imposter syndrome. I’m honored to be asked by anyone to take pictures so every client I get helps me feel like I’m doing something right.

How did Breathe Images start?

I didn’t create a legit and real business, called Breathe Images, until 2023. I know, I was just calling myself a business without any of the tax benefits like a doofus. There is that imposter syndrome leaking out!

I write this out a little on our about page but basically I strive to take photos that are alive. I want there to be motion and life and passion and magic in them. I want them to breathe

But the actual history of the name is from my first website. It had a landing page that was mostly blank and said, “breathe. We have found each other. Now let’s get you a new headshot” and that just about sums it up. Meditation and yoga and inner peace are things I’m practicing and experiencing a little every day. I want to bring that peace to my clients who may be stressed or anxious about getting new pictures. The real crew remember that website and I’ve had people tell me they loved it. I didn’t intend for the legal business name to ever really be seen or used. It was a reminder of where I started and what I needed to do.

But now, Breathe Images is growing into something I never really imagined. I get to bring that peace and fun to more people with more of the team. I HAVE a TEAM! Wild.

Follow your pull children. If you are passionate you never know what might happen.

What is your day to day life like?

Th fun thing is that my days very rarely look the same. That is by design! I love that every day feels different and I get to have new experiences all the time.

I usually get woken up with snuggles from my three year old. Me and Dan get Emmett ready for school and I can usually head to the gym before I go to the office. If there are shoots, I’m off to take great pictures! If it is a work day, I’m in the office prepping fun things for you to look at, read, or scheduling new shoots. If I don’t have a night shoot, I’m home around dinner to hang with my family. We do some laundry or play cars and take a bath before we do our bedtime routine of reading lots of books. After Emmett is in bed, Dan and I are chatting about the day before I snuggle in with my projector and book of the day. Personal time is how I recharge. You can follow me on fable. I read A LOT to stay fresh for you all.

What are you planning that we should look forward to?

Oh man! This rebrand and Brody joining the team have been my big summer project (plus, obvs, taking cool photos and making the website cute and teaching at ASoP, etc) so that is now done and we can move on to the next part of making this amazing dream of mine come into being!

Look, I do what you all tell me you want me to do. So I plan to keep taking awesome headshots, providing your prints, and capturing amazing shows and events around Atlanta and beyond! So what am I planning? I plan on finishing my CPP, going to ImagingUSA 2027, convincing more photographers to join the team, teaching some amazing classes and workshops, and learning and growing as much as I can.

What is on your to do list? Need to clean your bathroom? Have to find a new toothbrush?

So, I wrote these questions so both of those things for real need to get done. I am kind of obsessed with keeping my house and personal stuff in order. I’m an efficiency queen so I’m currently trying to optimize my Wild deodorant and compostable toothpaste subscription. Insane? Yes. Are there better uses of my time? Sure! But this scratches a very happy part of my brain. So if you have a fav sustainable self care item don’t hold out on your girl!

What movie are you picking on an airplane?

Ooooooo. Usually it is going to be a blockbuster I missed in theatres because I can’t justify the cost of a movie ticket (partially because I’m obvs getting popcorn and candy and a diet coke as big as my head). I still haven’t seen Wicked: For Good. Don’t hate me.

Too be honest, on my last couple flights I took with my husband, I played sudoku with Dan because our plane had games on the seatback screens. I’m also listening to an audiobook or reading my kindle on a flight but if the batteries are dead and I’m alone we can say I’ll watch a movie.
