hello kate

You know her, you love her; it’s Kate!

The fact that there is even a “team” is entirely because of Kate. Right after I (Casey here ready to gas up Kate!) had my son, she came over and said I needed help. I was like “naw, I’m good. I’m forgetting to invoice people and can’t keep my shoots straight but it’s fine.”

Obvs, she stayed and every time she leaves town I’m so sad and worried the wheels will fall off. But of course they don’t fall off because Kate is making sure we get paid and I know where the money is going.

But she never gets enough flowers so I’m excited to show her off and have you fall in love with her as much as I am.

Enjoy!

Where are you from?

I grew up in Durham, NC, but my dad lived in L.A. so I got to have west coast school breaks.

What was baby Kate like?

I read a lot and I pretended a lot.  I grew up with theatre parents, so I was always trying to convince kids to do Shakespeare on the playground. Yes, I was absolutely a nerd.  A tall, friendly nerd with good posture.

What is your role with the Breathe Images team?

Casey lets me be in charge of her finances, like a fool!  Hahaha!  But, yes, if you get an invoice or pay a bill, it goes through me!

How did you join them?

As Casey stated above, I visited her after she’d just had Emmett and offered whatever help she might need.  I’m a mom, too, and I couldn’t imagine how hard it would be to run a business and raise a child, so I thought I’d reach out, just in case.  I’m so glad she took me up on my offer.  I’ve loved working with her!

What is your day to day life like?

Mostly, I mom.  Cooking, cleaning, errands, snuggles, etc.  I’m that gal.  When I’m working for Casey, I’m billing, bookkeeping, and organizing data.  When I’m doing a show, I’m doing all the mom stuff and also learning lines, commuting to a theatre, and rehearsing/performing.  Fortunately, I enjoy all of it and my plate feels happily full.  My preference is to end every day with my boys in a cuddle puddle on the couch.

What is your little sweet treat?

I’m a sucker for ice cream.

Everyone is an artist on the team! What is your favorite thing about your creative process?

I love the variety; doing different things, meeting different people, going to different places, saying different words.  I feel like my brain is constantly engaged.

What is on your to do list? Need to clean your bathroom? Have to find a new toothbrush?

I always have an epic to-do list!  I need to return some library books (and get more), buy more school supplies for my son, frame some artwork from our recent trip to Scotland, clean the house, have a date night with my husband Jonathan, paint my downstairs bathroom, try not to look at Halloween decor before September, learn how to make sourdough…I could go on.

What movie are you picking on an airplane?

I was just on a plane, so I can tell you exactly: The Darkest Hour (or anything dramatic or historical that my kid doesn’t want to watch) and John Wick (or anything action-packed and distracting).
